Ladybug and 3rd place

Last week was the Trunk or Treat at church, however Andy and my mom wouldn't let me go. However my mom took lots of pictures to make me "feel" like I was there. Emily went as a lady bug. This costume has gotten passed down a lot and was orignally worn by my 9 year old niece Afton. But I had been having trouble even getting Emily to try it on recently so I never went and got her any black pants or shoes. However using the lollipop was the trick on getting the costume on. Hopefully next Halloween Emily will actually smile and not look so terrified in every picture.

The best part of the night (besides eating all Emily's candy) was that my chili won 3rd place in the chili cook off. Woo Hoo! I can't take all the credit since I took the recipe from my sister's recipe blog.

No Target??!

We went back for a check up today. And things have progressed. I am now 2-3 cm dilated, 90% effaced and 0 station. Whew! This baby is coming.... but we just don't know when!!! The annoying part (besides waiting) is that I may have cholestasis again. For those that don't know, I had some liver issue during the last pregancy that causes annoying itching ALL OVER. Right now it is no where near as frustrating as it was with Emily. So today they went ahead and did a blood test to determine if I do (I could just be paranoid) and had me do a non stress test. However during the test I was having a couple of contractions. The doctor wasn't too concerned and said they were probably just coming because of the exam and would slow down... which they have. He told me to continue to take it easy for the rest of the week. I asked him to clarify what he meant exactly. He just said "No Target!" How does he know I go there every day??

My mom was back in town today since she had the day off. Her and Emily are getting to be good buddies. Mom gave Emily and I pedicures/manicures. She thinks it is important to have cute toes while in labor. She also went to the grocery store for me (since I can't go to Target), which was a big help. Thanks mom... again.

Each day this little baby is getting bigger and healthier so I am glad she is staying put, but I am also in constant worry that I am going into labor anytime I feel a slight contraction. Of course, I know every pregnant women has gone through this anxious waiting period. Not fun!

Nana Saves the Day

My mom came in town this week to make me stay off my feet. She was AWESOME! I don't think I have changed any diapers this week. Emily was her little buddy and would call her name out when she woke up each day. How cute!!

Nana took her outside to play every day.
Nana trimmed her bangs.

Nana colored with her.

They read stories together.

And we got ready for the baby!!!!! Nana down all the baby stuff from attic, bought an outfit to bring the baby home in, got some baskets and organized everything and cleaned the house. Thanks Mom!

So I wonder if Emily is going to share any of the baby stuff with Sarah??? She has been putting her baby dolls in the seat and covering them with tons of blankets. And she likes to sit in the baby seat and lay on the baby mat... or both at the same time as below. Luckily, we went back to the doctor on Friday and he said there was no change. Good News! This doctor wasn't as strict about staying off my feet. He said to "lounge whenever you can." However today I think I did a little too much nesting and will take it easy tomorrow and stay home from church. My next appointment is on Tuesday, so we will see how things go. This could turn into a very long waiting game!!!

NC State Fair

We went to the fair on Saturday (7 hours of walking around the fair is probably what got this labor started early- oops!). We had a fun time eating food, looking at the animals and checking out the exhibits. We thought we would hold off 1 more year before putting Emily on any rides.

She was very excited about seeing Big Bird. He is her 2nd favorite after Elmo.

However she did not like this guy... at all!

Andy tried the Turkey Shoot, but sadly he didn't win us a turkey.

Emily as the Bus Driver - even though Andy was once a school bus driver, this is not my career aspirations for Emily.

Emily was not a fan of the big cows and pigs at the fair, but she did enjoy the petting zoo and loved the camels.

Here I am before I was dog tired and grouchy!

Quirks Tag

Since I have a lot of time on my hands and just lay on couch with my laptop (I know you are all jealous) ... I can finally get around to the Quirks Tag from Rebecca:

The Rules:

Link the Person who Tagged you.

Mention rules on your blog.

Tell about 6 quirks of yours.

Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same.

Leave a comment to let them know.

1. Back before I had Emily, I used to get really bad menstrual cramps and migranes that would cause me to throw up... often. I even earned the nickname Queasy Sue back in high school. The quirky part is that I can't eat food that I have once thrown up... like lasagna and brunswick stew.
2. I am terrifed and absolutely disgusted by mice and other rodents. I can't even look at one on TV or in a pet store without shivering.

3. I can't eat meat on the bone. A chicken wing is just nasty and reminds me that I am eating an animal. I would rather not think about that. However I can eat some baby back ribs!

4. I hate all seafood - the smell, the texture, the taste - all of it. Occassionally, I will eat one tiny, tiny bite of Andy's seafood meal to make him happy. He would be the happiest man alive if I ate a whole seafood meal, but it is not gonna happen!

5. My programmed radio stations have to be in numerical order, but maybe everybody does that. I am running out of quirks here people, bear with me!

6. As a child, I would only eat with a certain fork. My mom says I would refuse to eat until I had that fork. Once my aunt was over, she was so frustrated about me wanting a certain fork that she dumped the whole silverware drawer in front of me and told me to pick one.

I tag my sisters, Christine and Ashley, Jennifer G, Jennifer S and Juli K.

Baby Update

So I got some unexpected news at the doctor today. I went in for my 34 week checkup and he did an exam since I mentioned some cramping at night. Well, I guess the cramping is actually contractions. I never really had any with Emily so I don't know what they feel like. Anyways, I am 1 cm dilated, 80% effaced and the baby is in -1 station. So what does this mean? As the doctor put it, "She is knocking at your door." So I am unoffically on bed rest. He said to stay off my feet, no houswork, no lifting Emily and no exercise. Since I am only 34 weeks he would like to put off labor for at least 2 weeks. I am really trying to obey his orders since I want a healthy baby, but I am already getting bored and uncomfortable. Andy came home for a long lunch and took care of getting Emily fed and down for her nap. And my mom is packing her bags to come up here for the rest of the week. So I really should be able to just take it easy. For those of you that don't know, Emily came 2 weeks early and really fast, like 2 hours fast. So having my mom here will really ease my mind about somone watching Emily while Andy and I get to the hospital...quick. Say a little prayer that baby Sarah won't come until she is big and healthy!

Blast from the Past

I can't believe I am actually posting these... I hope Jennifer doesn't kill me. They aren't too bad of her... however I was in serious need of some contacts and a new hairstyle... and some fashion sense. (Andy asked why I was wearing a curtain in the pic on the right!)

Luckily 15 years later, we are looking much better.....

Jennifer and I recently"found" each other on facebook and through our blogs. We were able get together after our trip to the zoo last weekend. It was so great to see her again and meet her cute boys and hubbie... And Happy Anniversary to you two!

The Big Day!

OK, I promise this is my last post dedicated to Emily's birthday. But I just can't get over that my little baby is 2!

Emily and I spent her birthday shopping at the outlet mall with Simon and Jennifer. We had a lot of fun, however Emily was trying to boss Simon around without any success. In Gymboree they had little chairs in front of a TV for kids to watch. Emily LOVES some TV, however Simon could care less. Bossy little Emily kept saying "Sie (her name for Simon) Sit! Sit!" while pointing to the chair next to her. Simon didn't pay her any attention. Typical boy/girl relationship!

We met up again later that night (with husbands) for dinner. Once again, we had a good time and Emily got some CUTE shirts from them, Mr Potato head from Katelyn and her first nightgown from us.

Birthday Party @ Zoo

Saturday we went down to the Asheboro Zoo to celebrate Emily and Taylan's birthdays with family. My mom and all of Andy's family met us there. The weather was perfect and all the kids did great, however poor Landen did get sick and spent the last half in the car sleeping. We checked out the animals, had a picnic, ate cake and ice cream and opened presents.

Catching Up

We had Layni here with us for a week. My dad was out of town on business and Leslie's grandmother passed away and she had to go to CA. Emily absolutely LOVES Layni. She would follow her around the house... insist on only holding Layni's hand when walking...try to wrestle her all the time. We had them sleeping in the same room and it worked out well. They loved jumping on the air mattress everynight before bed. I would hear them talking in there at night, but they would eventually fall asleep.

One night we had a really bad thunderstrom in the middle of the night. The thunder was so loud we thought Layni would come scared to our room. However she didn't and the next morning Andy asked Layni if she was scared and why she didn't come into our room. And she said, "But what about Emily? I couldn't leave her." How adorable! I hope they continue to be buddies. It was hard for those girls to say goodbye...quite a few tears!

Our neigbhors couldn't take their swing set with them when they moved, so they gave it to us. We had to buy a new swing, but this has become Emily's favorite thing to do these days. She wants to swing ALL THE TIME. She is always saying "Mom. Push. Swing." However her favorite time to ask is 8 AM, so she usually gets a "Not right now." Which then leads to a melt down. We usually go out there for a while before lunch and then Daddy pushes her when he gets home from work. She would stay there all day if we would let her.
