Nags Head - On the beach

After the light house, we checked into the hotel and then headed to the beach. The water was freezing, so Emily just played in the sand while Sarah chilled in the "pit" Andy dug for her. We also hit the pool but it was freezing as well. Emily didn't want to get out of the pool, but we made her since her teeth were chattering and she was turning blue!
We ended the night with a yummy dinner at a waterfront resturanft. That night it was obvious Emily hasn't stayed in a hotel room very often, she was bouncy of the walls dancing around the room ALL night long!

Nags Head - Bodie Light House

This weekend we went to Nags Head beach. Andy took off Friday and we just went down for 1 night because he had stuff to do at church on Sunday. But somehow we were able to do a lot of fun things in that short amount of time. And we took a lot of pictures, so I will probably have to break this up in separate posts or I will never get it posted.
Our first stop was Bodie Light House...

Fun Times

Since Andy got a new bike he has been going out riding every night. I am sure he was feel guilty about leaving me home with the girls :), so he got a bike trailer to bring the girls along. Right now he only takes Emily out with him. But I enjoy my alone time cuddling with Sarah while they are out. I know loves Emly riding with her daddy, especially since they stop by the park. He is now looking for a bike for me.... but how many of you can actually see me on a bike???!

The other day I had a phone call with work, so I gave Emily some stickers to keep her busy. When I got off the phone, Emily was COVERED in stickers. I was dying laughing and she was so proud of herself.

Visit from Friends

We had a fun visit with our old neighbors that moved away last year. They were back in town for a week, so Emily and Katelyn got plenty of time to play together. Tuesday night we had a cookout with them and our other neighbors and then they came over Wed and Thursday to hang out. It didn't take the girls anytime to get back to playing like they used to.

We tried to get the girls down for their naps in the same room, but that didn't work out. They actually were pretty cute in there talking and giggling like big girls, but we broke up it and separated them.
Even Aidan and Sarah got along great!

We miss these guys, but are looking forward to visiting them in DC soon!

All about Sarah

I feel like I rarely blog about Sarah, so this post is ALL ABOUT Sarah.

We just had her 6 month check up last month. I don't remember her exact stats (I am posting this from the beach), but her weight was 16 lbs 2 oz. She is in the 50% for her weight, height and head.... what a difference from Emily.

She did great at her check up, except for lots of tears during her shots. But who can blame her???!

Here are some highlights about Sarah:

  • Always has a smile on her face
  • Smiles so easily and is ready to smile when someone looks at her.
  • Loves attention and giggles like crazy when someone talks to her
  • Very easy going
  • Wonderful in the car - does great during trips.
  • Loves her big sister and laughs as she dances around her
  • Puts up with Emily smothering and wrestling with her.
  • Chews on her blanket as she falls asleep
  • Started grabbing our face when we talk to her
  • Ticklish
  • Pulled her socks off multiple times today and has started playing with her feet
  • Rolled over back to front 5/5 and front to back 5/6
  • Started eating cereal on 3/29
  • Started eating baby food on 5/9
  • Really starting to enjoy baby food and opens her mouth real wide before bites
  • Is the BEST baby... I know I am partial but she really is a good baby.

This might have been a cute picture if I wasn't having a bad hair day. Regardless, I like this picture of Sarah and I since I don't have many of just the 2 of us. Not that I will have a "favorite" child, but I am pretty sure I will favor Sarah just a bit because she will probably be the middle child. And since I am the middle of 3 girls, I will always have a special bond with her.

Chuck's graduation and Cousin time!!

Emily LOVES her cousins (She talks about them daily), so she was very excited to see them last weekend. We went up to Virginia for my brother's in law graduation from law school. It was a short visit, but we were glad to see everyone and be a part of Chuck's graduation.

And no wonder Emily loves her cousins...they spoil her and smother her with attention!

Milestones

My girls are growing up today...

Emily - Actually sat on the potty and went... twice today! However we did have one accident this evening, which reminded me why I had been putting this off. She is definitely ready to be potty trained, so hopefully this will be QUICK transition. Isn't that wishful thinking??! She was bugging me to go to the store and buy a flute for her today. So I told her if she started sitting on the potty and could stop wearing diapers then I would buy her a flute. That was all it took! But now I am thinking, which is worse... changing diapers or listening to her playing a recorder all day long?? Maybe she will forget about the recorder. :)

Sarah- She is not going to outdone by her big sister. So less than 30 minutes after Emily's big potty celebration, Sarah rolled over from her back to tummy. I knew it was coming because she has been squirming and twisting all around lately. It is a bittersweet moment... because once they start moving, they never stop! Sarah doesn't get mentioned enough on our blog, so I promise to dedicate a full post to just Sarah soon!

Girls Night Out

Saturday night the girls from church went out for a Girls Night Out. It was tons of fun and I had been looking forward to it all week. It is so relaxing to laugh it up with the girls. And better yet, I came home to girls sleeping sweetly.

Can't wait for the next one!

So Beautiful!

Emily must have known the Kentucky Derby was this weekend because she would have fit right in. She came out of her room all dolled up and ready to go. She said, "Look Mom, so beautiful!" The shoes are hand me downs and are too big, but she loves wearing them since they have heels and make a clicking noise as she walks around the house.
Of course she wanted to make a "funny face" when I got the camera out.
