Tornado

As many of you know, NC was hit with a number of tornados recently. Thankfully the tornado went around our town and we didn't receive any damage. Others were not so fortunate and it breaks my heart to watch the news and see homes destroyed. I am so very grateful for all that I have in my life, especially my home and those that I love.

During the storm, we kept a close eye on the news track the path of the storm. We got the girls downstairs and warned them we may have to get in the closet if the storm gets too close to our house. Well, Emily went ahead and set up camp in the closet and played there the rest of the afternoon. She even begged to sleep there! As you can see, she was prepared with the essentials... plenty of dress up clothes!

I am a little behind on posting, but here is a picture of our little Abby Girl at 3 weeks.

Baby Shower and Crafty Friends

Erin and Lindsay threw me a wonderful baby shower at Olive Garden recently. It was so nice to spend a evening out with my favorite people. And I got some AWESOME gifts from my crafty friends. I am in awe of their talents.

The group of gals!

Lindsay and Erin - so sweet to organize everything.

Like I said, I am in awe of my talented friends and so lucky to be the recipient of their talents! Look at all these handmade gifts!

Week 1

The first week home home was definitely a blur, but luckily I took a few pictures so that helps me remember.

First Bath
She actually screamed the whole time.
(She screams during diaper changes too!)

I love her hair after a bath - short, spikey, monkey hair!
Some friends said she has hair just like Andy -true!

Lots of cuddles and kisses after bath time

Sweet Sisters

It has been so cute to watch the girls bond with Abby, especially Emily. She LOVES Abby. I always find her talking baby talk to her. She always wants to hold her. She picks out her clothes and helps change diapers. Such a good big sis!

1 week old!
We went to a few doctor's appointments this week. At one appointment a boy threw up in the lobby and Andy was NOT happy about Abby being there among the germs. While talking to a lactation consultant, she realized Abby had a short lingual frenulum (tongue tied), so the doctor came in and cut it. Then we had to get her blood drawn to test her jaundice. Abby was great despite getting cut and pricked! We went back a few days later and her weight gain is looking great.

Welcome Home

The girls and Nana greeted us outside with streamers, jumping up and down and loud music. (Nana loves to play, "Who Let the Dogs Out" - random, I know)

They had decorated inside too

And made a gigantic cookie to celebrate day 3 of Abby's life
The girls smothered Abby in kisses

and we blew out the candles.

Then they each held their new little sister!!!

Hospital Stay

I actually enjoyed my stay at the hospital this time around. (Andy didn't really enjoy sleeping on the pull out chair though). I loved my nurses and I actually sent the baby to the nursery at night and got some good sleep (in 3 hour increments!)

Abby learned quickly about her dad's love for UNC bball since she was born during the NCAA tournament.

Andy likes to steal my bed when I get in the shower.
Andy gave me flowers and Abby a UNC blanket!

Don't you love the bow on the hospital hat??!

Getting dressed to go home

Proud Dad and Mom!

All ready to go home!
