Happy 31st Andy!

Saturday had started off to be such a nice day. My neighbor Laura and I went out to breakfast and got pedicures. It was a nice treat, especially for Laura who is just days away from having a baby. Andy had a boy scout activity flying remote controlled airplanes, so he took Emily to that and they were gone until after lunch. So I had the whole morning to myself!!! Of course, I just cleaned the whole house but it was nice to do without a child making a mess behind you. I think Emily also enjoyed her morning with Daddy. She has started to prefer him instead of me sometimes, which I think is good. However I do need to teach Andy how to do Emily's hair because I have no idea what is going on with it in this picture.

However the relaxing day ended when Emily got the stomach bug I had earlier in the week. The diareaha started and just kept coming! Poor Emily eventually started getting up and holding my hand and walking me back to the bedroom for diaper changes.

And I can't forget to mention that Saturday was Andy's 31st birthday!!! So we had plans to have some friends and my sister over and grill some steaks. We gave a forewarning of Emily's illness, but they came over anyways. Andy had a wonderful dinner... on the back porch with just him and Jonathan eating steak and drinking chocolate milk (his favorite combination). Meanwhile, the ladies inside managed to eat bites in between the crying, fighting and pushing of 5 kids. I made Andy a "Strawberry Swirl Cake" which was very yummy, however it was definitely lacking in presentation. It was supposed to be 2 layers with the cream and strawberries in the middle. The problem came when I tried to get the layers out of the pans... they just fell apart. I have since read tips on the website that suggested lining the pans with wax paper. Would have helped if I read that BEFORE I made the cake.

Here is what the cake was supposed to look like:

However here is what mine looked like:

Luckily I have a wonderful husband who would never dare complain about anything I ever made. He is also a wonderful dad. He really took care of Emily this weekend while she was sick. She just wanted to be held all the time and he loved holding her. He sat in her room rocking her when she would wake up in the middle of the night. He loves his little girl and we love him so much. Happy Birthday Andy!

Weekend Travels

So Andy just asked if I was updating my blog because "it has been a long time since you posted anything." So once again I apologize for the lack of posts. I am not sure where all my time is going... it is either my little girl banging on the front door to get outside, the 20 hours a week I spend working for Professional Image, or the stomach bug that wiped me out yesterday and had me in the bathroom all night last night. ( I know, more information than you want to know!)

This weekend we went up to Virgina for my neice, Leland's 3rd birthday. The party was lots of fun. We hung out at the park and then went back to my sister's house to eat lunch, open presents and eat cake and ice cream. It was a "pink party" and there was lots of pink! My other sister and her family were also there, as well as Nana and Aunt Barbara. So it was lots of fun hanging out with family and seeing all the cousins playing together. However I didn't get many pictures, so look at my sister Ashley's blog to see the fun party and the cute castle cake she made. Here are some pics the kids at the park.

The trip was much easier to handle than usual since Emily had her "Nanny" sitting next to her. One evening Emily fell asleep while holding Nana's hand. I think Nana was in heaven and Emily probaby was too. Nana loves all her grandkids as you can see in the picture with all the kids.

Sunday we decided to drive home by way of Kernersville, not really on the way home. But we were able to go to church back were I grew up, so it was really nice to see everyone and showing off Emily. We also got to see Andy's family and meet his new nephew, Maverick Paul Morris. He is a cutie and luckily Emily didn't poke out his eyes!

18 months!!!

I have seriously been neglecting my blog lately. I do apologize, but a broken laptop, having to teach Gospel Doctrine (adult Sunday school) yesterday and Emily boycotting her daily nap are all to blame. To catch everyone up....

Emily is WALKING!!!! She started taking some steps 2 weeks ago and has been doing just a little each day, but not too much. However she woke up on Saturday and just started going! I think it helped that last week she was wearing shorts since it was so nice outside and she didn't really enjoy crawling on the sidewalk. Her poor legs are still scratched up. Occasionally she will crawl around the house some, but it is crazy to turn around and see her walking into the kitchen. She is pretty good at it and rarely falls down, so that is good.

Today she is 18 months! We went in for her check up today and she weighed in at a whopping 19lbs 2oz. She is such a skinny thing and her weight is still not on the chart. However the doctor is not worried since her head and height are in the 50-75 percentile. She may recommend for us to see an endocrinologist when she is 2 years old. Until then she said to completely quit giving her juice (to prevent her from getting full on juice and not eating) and give her lots of butter, breads, cheese and pasta. Which sounds like a pretty yummy diet to me... of course, watch me gain all the weight and not Emily.

She also has really started talking and babbling a lot lately. She repeats a lot of what we say when we tell her to say someting, but never really says it again. I am going to start keeping a list of new words she says on her own off to the side of the blog.

Other than that, we have just been enjoying the beautiful weather last week and hanging with our neighbors Katelyn and Laura. Emily and Kately get so excited when they see each other and screech and wave their hands all around. Yesterday Andy and I were talking a walk with Emily and walked past Katelyn's house. Emily recognized that it was their house and started waving and yelling Hey. It was the cutest thing!

Beach Trip

So I haven't posted in awhile. Unfortunately my laptop is out of service due to a broken power cord that I haven't replaced yet. I always blog while watching TV at night and haven't been able to without my laptop. This week Emily and I went to thebeach for a few days with my Dad, Leslie, Layni and Miki. Here is a slideshow of some beach pictures:

It was a little cold, so we didn't get the ocean. We did walk in the water one day, but the next day Emily wouldn't put her feet down in it. We attempted to get in the pool, but it was too cold for me. I just held Emily on the stairs and she kept trying to put her head face first down in the water. I thought kids were scared to do that??!

Layni was such a good playmate and Emily had a blast with her. She even learned to say her name and was yelling it from the top of the stairs trying to get Layni to come play with her. She did some good walking while she was there, but hasn't done much since we got home. It obviously helps to be around other kids. Hopefully going to nursery in 2 weeks will be good for her!
