State Fair 2010

Last week Andy took a day off work, so we could go all go to the fair. Andy's family is REALLY into the fair. They go to the Dixie Classic fair in Winston Salem every year. It is always a big deal and usually someone has entered something into the fair. Andy won a few 4H awards back in the day.

Emily obviously has inherited this love for the fair because she talks about going all year long. She was counting down the days. She wants to ride every ride... and of course we let her and take a million pictures of her on just about every ride.

Sarah isn't really a fan of rides. We tried her on the merry go round and it didn't go well, so she just hung out in the stroller.

There was a cute little exhibit that had a photo op area outside. Then inside the girls each got a basket to "pick" fruit. Then they sold the fruit and the farmer's market for $5. Then they got to go buy a bag of goodies at the store with their $5. It was so cute and the girls loved. I especially loved the coloring area they had set up because it meant I got to take a break and sit down for awhile!

We also got to take another break and watch Hubba Bubba the Clown. At one point, he asked for a volunteer to come on stage. I wasn't really sure if Emily knew why she was raising her, but I guess she did because he picked her and she went right up on stage.

He said he was going to give her a magic wand to wave and everyone would say Abracadabra and she would turn into a clown. Well, all the wands were "silly" (as Emily said). Either they would go limp or stretch out and multiply. At the end he waved a wand and a clown poster came down with a hold for her head.... and she was a clown! Pretty silly, I know, but it was her favorite part of the fair she said. She was so cute up there giggling.

She always enjoys the pony rides. Next year I probably won't even walk beside her.

We did let Sarah get out of the stroller every once in awhile. She really loved dancing to the bluegrass music

Back to the rides...

Andy is not a fan of rides, however he does enjoy the kiddie rides. They are more his style!

Even though Sarah did not enjoy any rides, she was really quite content in her stroller and enjoyed watching everything. I guess she is a Morris after all. :)
Oh, and did I mention we were there from 9 AM to 7 PM!!! Wow, my feet were so sore when we got home. Andy and I could barely make it inside. Sarah passed out on the way home, but Emily was still going strong! She can't wait for next year!

Late Night with Roy

As we do every year, we headed over to Chapel Hill last week for "Late Night with Roy."

Check out these cute tarheels!

The girls did great and loved dancing to all the fun music. Emily especially loved watching the mascot, Ramses.

Our Princess!

Here are a few tidbits about our princess as she turns 4!

She loves to play dress up.

She loves to draw, paint and color. She always has a notepad and pen in her hand and loves to draw cute pictures of princess and princes.

She enjoys spending time by herself in her room with door closeed (however little Sarah does not like this).

She loves her princess dolls and barbies.

She can be quite sassy at times... particulary in the morning (kind of like her momma!).

She is very observant and it is quite interesting to watch her mind process things.

She loves her ballet/tap class.

She loves her sister Sarah. I overheard her trying to teach Sarah how to say "Beauty and the Beast." She said, "I know, Sarah. It is a tricky one to say, but good try!" What a good big sister!

However she does not enjoy sharing her toys with Sarah, but they are getting better.

She loves to watch The Little Mermaid and  Beauty and the Beast. It is so sweet to hear her sing the songs in the movies. She knows all the words.

She loves for me to read stories to her at night.

She has started to show interest in writing and reading words. She is always asking how to spell words so she can write them.

She loves being silly and loves to cuddle.

She only has a collection of "stuff" in some sort of box or bag. Right now, her collection is in plastic pumpkin bucket and includes a lot of pens, a jump rope, a notepad and a lot of random stuff. If I ever lose something, I can usally find it in her bucket.

Some of her new phrases include, "cool," "awesome", "weird", and "this is boring." Oh, and she called me a "ho" tonight, but I am pretty sure it was just because it rhymed with something I said to her. I can't remember whtat I said, but I started laughing pretty hard, which just made her say it more.

We love our little Emmie! She makes me smile and I love watch her grow and become more independent.

Emily turns 4!

Emily turned 4 last week on Thursday. We had been counting down the days with a paper chain. When she woke up she came in my room and said, "Mom, is it morning yet?" I told her it was and she said, "So I am not 3 anymore. I am 4 now."  Absolutely!!!

We started the morning with heart shaped blueberry pancakes.
She wanted to go play on the playground for her birthday, however it rained all day. However she was happy with a trip to Walmart  that included picking up a new princess umbrella. She had lots of fun singing in the rain and jumping in the puddles!

Of course, Sarah had fun too!

That afternoon Emily helped me decorate her cake.

That night we had a yummy steak dinner, opened presents and then had cake and ice cream.

We had to blow the candles out a few times for Sarah. She kept saying "Again! Again!"
