Happy Easter!

We have had a nice Easter weekend. Friday night we went to a Easter egg hunt at Dave and Darcy's house. I have been having little mini hunts with Emily in our yard all week, so she knew what to do and it was definitely good exercise for her. However she was definitely the slowest Easter egg hunter out there!

Then on Saturday went over to Andy's parents for a big lunch and then to the park for another Easter egg hunt. Emily had a fun time hanging out with all the big kids. However it gets frustrating for me because she wants to crawl after all the kids outside and I have issues with her getting dirty. I don't mind HER getting dirty, I just don't like her clothes getting stained and worn down. I am just going to have to get over it and buy new jeans if I have to. Or hopefully she will be walking soon and I won't have to worry about it.

The two times I tried Emily's Easter dress on her, she screamed and tried to pull it off. So after much kicking and screaming this morning, I finally got her dressed. She was too cute with her Easter hat on and she knew it. She was giving everyone at church these silly looks and batting her eyes. We took a few pictures outside church with her buddy Simon.

Our week so far...

Here are a few cute things Emily has been doing this week:

  • Learned the sign for "cookie" (she doesn't quite have it right, but I know what she means). Unfortunately, I was out of cookies when she made the sign during snack time and could not give her one and that lead to crying. I need to have separate cookie jars for Daddy and Emily so he won't eat all the cookies next time.
  • Picked up the remote control and being flipping through the channels until she found a cartoon, then she put down the remote and began watching TV. (pretty sad, huh?)
  • Had an Easter egg hunt with her physical therapist. She LOVED it. I actually have the flower girl's basket from our wedding and it is the perfect size for her to hold while walking around the yard. (She is still holding on to my hand while walking, but just holding one of my hands, and not both, is a big improvement).
  • Spent some time in the yard with her dad today and said "tree" and "pa" for pond.
  • Learning her animal sounds. Right now everything says "baa", not just sheep. However with prompting and encouragment she will mimic a cow, dog, lion and elephant sounds.
  • Went to Katelyn's house to play in the sand box and looking forward to playing with Simon tomorrow.

And some not so cute things I did this week:

  • Dropped an entire crock pot full of Broccoli and Cheese soup in the foyer of church creating a nasty mess that had to be cleaned up.
  • Pretty sure I said a curse word in church while I was dropping the soup (but I was in the foyer, so maybe I wasn't really considered "in" the church yet, right?).
  • Continued to drop a number of items and trip over the lap top cord when I got home from church (Andy nicely suggested I should just go straight to bed before I broke something).
  • Somehow spilled a sippy cup of milk on the couch and myself. I can't figure it out because when I picked up the cup the lid was screwed on tight.
  • Bought Emily 3 new Easter dresses and 4 new Easter outfits for my self. - don't worry next week I will be returning the ones I have now rejected.
  • Put Emily's shoes on the wrong feet and had her walking around all day like that until someone at church noticed it. And we all wonder why Emily is not walking yet!

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend has been really nice. First, my mom came up on Friday night. She watched Emily while Andy and I went out on a date. Yes, an actual date. I forgot what that was like. We went and saw Vantage Point and enjoyed the alone time. My mom spent the night so Emily got plenty of attention from her Nana Saturday morning too. Then we went down to Winston for the rest of the day to hang out with Andy's family. Emily enjoyed the drive facing forward! Yes, I turned her around despite the fact the she isn't quite 20 lbs yet, but come on, she is 17 months already. Emily had a fun time chasing her cousins. Luke and Zac were cute and keep bringing Emily cereal to eat. We had dinner at a fun BBQ place that had a bluegrass band. Emily was jamming while eating her dinner.

And today we watched the ACC tournment with the Boney's. We had a fun time especially since UNC WON! It must have been because of this lil cheerleader...

Schells in town!

This week, the Schells came in town for a visit. Andy and Tom Schell were good friends growing up. He will be heading to Irag next month, so they came in town to visit before he is deployed. They came in town to see his family, but we were lucky enough to get a visit with them too. Tom and his wife Jane have 3 cute kids. Andy took the day off work and we had a big breakfast, played in the backyard, went to the Science museum, then went to Outback for dinner. What a fun day!
And tomorrow we are going to Winston for the famous Schell vs Morris basketball game. I think these boys have been keeping score for the last 15 years!

Standing

We are getting closer... Emily is now standing by herself! She is still really nervous when she does it and her legs still shake, but she gets this cute goofy look on her face. She will do it on cue when we say, "Stand up." Then she starts laughing and clapping and falls down. Please excuse the bad hair days we were having when the pictures were taking. The first picture shows how her hair falls straight down into her eyes. Andy wants to cut her hair, but I refuse and just pull it back during the day, hoping that it will grow long enough to tuck behind her ears. As you can see in the other pic, I did try to put rollers in her stick straight hair, but it just turned out like a big mushroom.

A day at the park

This past Saturday we went to the park to enjoy the nice weather we have been having lately. Since Andy was with me, Emily was able to go down the slide for the first time. He helped her at the top and I would catch her at the bottom. Emily loves anything fast and loves feeling the wind in her face, so she was loving it.

Sweetheart Tag

I got tagged by my sister to fill out a Sweetheart survey...

What's his name? Andrew Clinton Morris

How long have you been married? 4 years... 5 years in December

How long did you date? Dated for 4 months, engaged for another 4 months

How old is he? 30...almost 31

Who eats more? it depends what we are eating... overall Andy eats more, but I definitely can hold my own.

Who is taller? ummm... pretty sure that is Andy.

Who said 'I love you' first? Definitely Andy. (He says my response was , "huh?")

Who does the laundry? Me

Who does the dishes? Me

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me

Who cooks dinner? Me ( I am noticing a trend here, Andy has it MADE)

Who sings better? Neither, we both sound horrible

Who drives when you are together?Andy-he is terrified when i get behind the wheel (he just commented that I like to speed in the school zone in our neighborhood)

Who is more stubborn? That is really hard question... we both are equally stubborn. And Emily... she has it coming from both genes and is very stubborn.

Who is smarter? I am when it comes to book smarts, but Andy is when it comes to "street" smarts or common sense.

Who kissed who first? Andy did. After a church activity he walked me to my car and blocked the door so I couldn't leave until we kissed. Smooth..real smooth.

Who asked who out first? Andy did.

Who proposed? Andy did - It's a good story. Short version - We went fishing at Jordan Lake and the plan was for Andy's friend, the scuba diver, to hook a bag (with a jar with the ring) to the end of the line. Well, the scuba tank malfunctioned and he couldn't get low enough to find the hook. So after trying to sneak the jar to Andy from under the dock, he just threw it on top the dock. I was completely clueless as to why a scuba diver was hanging out near us and why I could hear my nieces in the woods. (Both our families were hiding in the woods, so we have some really good pictures). After I said yes, we changed to some nice clothes that Andy had my sister sneak out of my closet and took a limo to Angus barn for dinner with our whole family. It was the absolutely the best proposal!! He had every detail planned out. He even arranged for all my family to come in town and I loved that I got to celebrate it with our family.

Who is more sensitive? Me - I cry at EVERYTHING.

Who has more friends? Me

Who has more siblings? Technically, he does, but if you count my half and step sisers, I do.

Who wears the pants in the family? I think this is related to the question about being stubborn...

I tag Jane and Lindsay!

Sitting pretty

In case no one realized this already, Emily is such a girly girl. She LOVES wearing bracelets and necklaces, loves anything pink and cuddly and is the daintiest little thing. In the picture to the right, she is holding up her arm so her purse and bracelet don't fall off. (She also has to have every toy she owns pulled out of the toy basket!)

She also loves sitting in chairs. My mom brought up a booster seat when my nieces where here and it has become her new favorite thing. It was sitting in hall and Emily brought it over to the den, so she could sit in it. Now she sits in it all day long. She likes crawling in and out of it and putting her toys in the chair. It has provided so much entertainment.

We are working on learning the body parts and animals sounds right now. Here is a cute video of Emily and her attempts:
